Top Tropical North Queensland Annual Events

Tropical North Queensland has so much to see and do all year long, that no matter when you are visiting you will be sure to have an experience like no other. In addition to the everyday attractions of this region, however, there are many events and festivals that take place throughout the year. Often time visitors to this region plan their trips around an event or festival that they are looking to be apart of.

MAY- May is the month for the Port Douglas Carnival. This event has been running annually for the past eighteen years and last the duration of ten days and nights. The Port Douglas Carnival includes a Family Beach Day, wine and food tasting, a parade and an awesome concert. It is an event that is looked forward to and enjoyed by many.

JUNE- When you are visiting in the month of June you may want to look into the dates of two very fun events that take place throughout the month. The Cairns Festival of Sports is a competitive triathlon that is for the entire family. Then there is the Cooktown Festival that is a celebration of Captain Cook and his landing on the banks of Endeavour River. This celebration is lots of fun and even includes a reenactment of Captain Cooks landing.

JULY- For everything from livestock shows to rides, the Cairns show has much to offer. If you are visiting in 2010 you will be one of the privileged to see the circus show that will be added this year. It is a fun filled event for all ages, and should not be missed if you are visiting during this time.

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER- September and October are dynamic months in the Tropical North Queensland, with diverse events on the calendar that impart fun booming days as well as evenings in the domain. Make a point to visit the Amateurs Carnival, in addition to, the Cairns Festival. Both are held during the month of September, and both are very fun. In October, consider the idea of soaking up a little culture with the Opera in the Outback, a fun event that calls for courtly dress up and will offer you the most lulling sounds as you watch the sun set on the region. Also in October, make a point to check out the Palm Cove Fiesta booming with spirited colors and delectable tastes from all around the globe.
